Overview

Trace is a browser extension that lets you draw, annotate, highlight, and present directly on any webpage. We are committed to your privacy. This policy explains clearly what Trace does — and does not — do with your data.

Data We Do NOT Collect

Trace does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information. Specifically:

• No account or sign-up required
• No browsing history or page content is recorded
• No analytics or tracking of any kind
• No data is ever sent to any external server
• No cookies are set

How the Extension Works

When you activate Trace, it injects a drawing canvas overlay directly into the current tab — entirely within your browser. All annotations exist only in your browser's memory and are cleared when you close the tab or disable the extension.

Permissions Explained

• activeTab — Required to detect the current tab so the annotation toolbar can be activated on the page you are viewing.
• scripting — Required to inject the drawing canvas into the active tab when you click the extension icon.
• storage — Reserved for future use to optionally save your tool preferences (color, size) locally on your device only.
• Host access (<all_urls>) — Required so the annotation canvas can be displayed on any webpage you choose to annotate.

Third-Party Services

Trace does not use any third-party services, SDKs, or APIs. All code runs locally inside your browser.

Children's Privacy

Trace does not collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the new version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use of the extension constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
